Steve Smith has truly been a remarkable performer for the Australian cricket team. His prodigious display of power and might formed the cornerstone of Australian cricket. He has looked almost unstoppable especially in the last 4-5 years. The No.1 Test batsman has perfected the art of scoring runs consistently not letting the bowlers dictate the tempo and rather he lets his bat do the talking by slicing the blade at the right time.

With no such batting technique or style, his unerring habit of scoring daddy hundreds in the Ashes series and that too after serving a one-year ban goes to show that he is a world-class batsman.  He was the ultimate star performer for Australia against England in the Ashes series where he finished with stellar figures of 3 fifties, scoring 774 runs at an average in excess of 110.

His presence was a sheer essence that helped Australia retain the Ashes urn in England for the very first time since 2001. Steve Smith has been approaching the game in the same manner in the last few years. It was no surprise that bowlers have found it really hard to take the costly wicket regardless of the conditions or venue.

I would have definitely tried to hit and hurt Steve Smith: Shoaib Akhtar

While the bowlers are thinking out of the box to find a snippet of weakness in Steve Smith, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has chipped in with interesting words about Steve Smith. He added that he would make an attempt to hit and hurt Steve Smith had he faced him during his playing time. However, the former fast bowler said it is indeed impossible to hurt Australia’s best batsman.

“Steve Smith has no technique or style but he has bravery. If he was playing in my time, I would have definitely tried to hit him and I would have tried to hurt him. But it’s impossible to hurt this guy, he’s playing so well, he’s one of a kind,” Shoaib Akhtar was quoted as saying by Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq.
