Shreyas Iyer Names Zaheer Khan As His All-Time Favorite Bowler

India cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been in the limelight, courtesy his heroics against New Zealand earlier this year. Iyer has represented India in 40 matches in the white-ball format. The 25-year-old has time and again steadied the ship for India amid early breakthroughs.

On Wednesday, Iyer took part in a question-answer session with fans on Twitter. Iyer revealed that Zaheer Khan is his all-time favorite bowler. The right-hand batsman responded to many queries during the session.

Zaheer has been one of the most successful pacers for India. The left-arm pacer played a key role in helping India lift the 2011 World Cup. The 41-year-old represented India in 92 Tests, 200 ODIs and 17 T20Is. He has scalped more than 600 international wickets in a career that spanned over 14 years.
Shreyas Iyer looks to emulate Zaheer’s success
Iyer being a 90’s kid, grew up watching Zaheer play. Both played for Mumbai in domestic cricket. Iyer has scored close to 5000 runs in first-class cricket. He has been a pillar for his state side. Iyer’s leadership skills were on display during the IPL as he is the skipper of the Delhi Capitals.

The flamboyant cricketer has the privilege of sharing the dressing room with names like Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly in the Delhi dug-out. The side made it to the qualifier two last season, losing to Chennai Super Kings in the virtual semi-finals. There fortunes have changed eversince a change of guard took place at the helm.
Though, there are no talks regarding the start of the IPL this year, Iyer was optimistic of their chances. “There are a lot of positives to talk about. At the start of the season with half of us youngsters in the team (but) Ricky, Sourav Ganguly came in and gave their views regarding how we would be going this season. Everyone was really enthusiastic to take forward from there on.” Iyer had said.
