Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer had as much a significant role to play in their T20 series victory over Australia on Sunday in Sydney. Shreyas Iyer, who came at Virat Kohli’s loss, had a crucial job on his hands, having not found form in the current white-ball leg in Australia. The right-handed batsman’s six off Adam Zampa’s ball left the Indian camp in shock.

It was in the 18th over that the incident occurred when Adam Zampa’s was going to be the deciding over of the match. The leggie could have had Shreyas Iyer’s wicket in the first delivery; however, the ball dropped at no man’s land. Iyer took advantage of it in the fourth ball to hammer a massive six over deep mid-wicket, travelling 111 meters. Captain Virat Kohli and fielding coach R Sridhar reacted to the shot in utter shock – mouths open and hands on their heads.

Iyer got a boundary in the last ball to make things achievable for Hardik Pandya, who finished the game with six wickets and two balls to spare. All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who received the man of the match award, ended his innings unbeaten at 42 off 22 balls. In the last over, he smacked left-arm seamer and debutant Daniel Sams for two sixes as the men in blue required 14 to win. India, who lost the ODI series convincingly, has bounced back to beat Australia and claim the T20I series.
