Shreyas Iyer has been a revelation as India’s new No.4. The youngster has been finishing off matches for his side in such a manner that it looks India have finally solved middle-order’s jigsaw puzzle. His ability to bat under pressure has also taken the pressure off Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on the top. Speaking of him, the batting coach Vikram Rathour showered words of praise on Iyer.
Since walking into the Indian side, Iyer has shown that his power game never disappeared. From 2019, Iyer has the most sixes by any Indian in T20 cricket — a stunning 67 maximums, which is the seventh-best among all T20 players in the world.
Rathour hailed him as a match-winner for the Indian team and admitted that he hopes to see him continue his rich vein of form.

Mindset is Shreyas Iyer’s biggest advantage – Vikram Rathour
Rathour hailed the mindset of Iyer, who believes the latter is as a big player and the match-winner of the team. The batting coach asserts that Iyer will stay in the team for a while and his best is yet to come for India.
“Apart from having those (batting) skills, I think the mindset is amazing. He (Iyer) believes he is a big player, and he is, without any doubt. He genuinely believes that he is a match-winner and he is here to stay. And that mindset I think helps him, that is the biggest advantage he has,” he said.

So far, Iyer had a sensational series. In the first game, Iyer walked out to bat with India still needed 83 off 53 balls to play alongside senior batsman Kohli.
However, the skipper got dismissed when India needed 62 off 40 balls. In absence of the experienced player, the Mumbaikar smashed 26-ball half-century to see India home.

In the next game, at the same venue, when Iyer came in to bat, the visitors were in trouble as Kohli and Rohit got out in the Powerplay.
Again at the top, Iyer took his time to settle in and then taking the Kiwis bowlers to the cleaners. He scored 33-ball 44 and help India take a 2-0 lead in the series.
