Team India women’s cricketer, Smriti Mandhana was in a sensational form during the KIA Super League.

She was at his pleasing best and eventually got awarded the Man of the Series Award. She ultimately amassed 421 runs in KIA Super League at a staggering strike rate of 174.68. In the process, she also smashed a breathtaking century against Lancashire Thunder. It was a fantastic knock which got applauded across the globe.

Even former legendary batsman, Kumar Sangakkara hailed Mandhana after her stunning inning. She also smashed the fastest half-century when she scored a half-century off 18 deliveries against Loughborough Lightning. It is still the fastest fifty in women’s cricket. Barring the century and this particular half-century, she also scored a fluent half-century against Yorkshire Diamonds.

The southpaw fell agonisingly close of a couple of half-centuries and got dismissed on 48 and 49, respectively.

However, Mandhana had a fantastic tournament and was the most consistent batswoman among all the franchises. Hence she was awarded the Player of the Tournament. In the past, we have hardly seen any batswoman score at 300 plus strike rate.

She is a classical batsman and has a wide range shots which you hardly find with women cricketers. However, Mandhana is very different and has the muscular power as well. In the current Indian team, only Harmanpreet Kaur can complement her brilliantly. She is also a great striker of the ball and when on song can demolish any bowling attacks.

Coming back to Smriti Mandhana, she rose to fame in the 2017 Women’s World Cup when she scored a brilliant 90 and followed it up with a sensational century. The 90 came against eventual champions, England while the only century of the tournament came against the Windies. She has matured a lot in the last six months and is indeed a top class batswoman who has done exceptionally well in the recent past.
