Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Wednesday (July 11) has received a huge jolt ahead of the One-day International (ODI) series against Pakistan. Their in-form batsman Solomon Mire has been ruled out following an injury.

The 28-year-old Mire was in brilliant form smashing 94 and 63 against Pakistan and Australia. The fifties came in the recently-concluded Twenty20 International tri-series.

However, Mire will be out of action for a period of three weeks due to a gluteal tear.

He will be out for at least three weeks as he concentrates on physiotherapy rehabilitation. It aims to speed up healing. And make sure the tear heals without tight scar tissue formation,” Anesu Mupotaringa, the team physiotherapist reavled through a press release.

The injury to Solomon Mire comes as a further setback for Zimbabwe, who are already without Kyle Jarvis.

The pace bowler is out of action for at least six weeks after sustaining a fracture while fielding during a tri-series match.

Zimbabwe have included a majority of those who featured in the T20 series in the 16-member squad.
The five-match ODI series commences on July 13 (Friday) in Bulawayo. Hamilton Masakadza, who had led the team in the T20 matches, will continue to serve as the captain.
Furthermore, Brendan Taylor, Sikandar Raza, Graeme Cremer, Sean Williams and Craig Ervine have not made themselves available for selection. The statement came following the pending dues of these above-mentioned players.

Zimbabwe Cricket’s release on Wednesday (July 11) made no mention of the five players. However, before the tri-series chairman of selectors, Walter Chawaguta made it clear that they would be considered for selection if they made themselves available.
But they will continue to make themselves unavailable for selection. The players are waiting to get their outstanding salaries and match fees respectively.
