Hard work and perseverance are the key to achieving success and India’s latest rising star Atharva Ankolekar has once again proved it. Son of a bus conductor, Atharva Ankolekar has now been selected for Indian Under-19 cricket team for the Youth Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. Atharva Ankolekar was just ten years old in 2010 when he lost his father.
Since then, his mother Vaidehi Ankolekar raised him single-handedly. Atharva is a left-arm spinner and is currently in the second year of junior college (Commerce) at the Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce.

“My husband Vinod was a conductor in BEST and the only earning member in the family. His death left me helpless and I began giving tuition at my home with my friend’s help. Later, I was luckily given my husband’s job. I grateful to BEST, because of it, I could fulfil my son’s dream,” Vaidehi was quoted as saying by DNA.
While Atharva is yet to make a big mark in the game, one of the most memorable moment of his short career so far came way back in 2010. Atharva had dismissed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in a practice match. Impressed with the child, Tendulkar had later him with a pair of autographed gloves.
