Sony Pictures India has acquired the rights to make a biopic on premium fast bowler of women’s team Jhulan Goswami. The veteran Indian fast bowler will become the third cricketer to have her biopic. Movies on the life of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been introduced at the silver screen.

Jhulan is current leading wicket-taker in women’s cricket. The lanky fast bowler has scalped 203 wickets in the 169 matches she has played. Moreover, Goswami became the first women bowler to scale the mountain of 200 One-day International scalps.

Jhulan Goswami is the leading wicket-getter in ODI form.

Jhulan reached the feat in the second One-dayer against South Africa at Diamond Oval in Kimberley in February. Meanwhile, she has become the first woman cricketer and second woman sportsperson to have her biopic in Bollywood.

However, further details about the movie are yet to come. Meanwhile, Goswami played a significant role for the national team.

The tall pacer made her debut against England way back in 2002. Since then the Bengal pacer is the backbone of the Indian Women Cricket.

Jhulan, who has led India in the past won ICC Player of the year in 2007. The 35-year-old veteran became the leading wicket-getter in the 50-over format when she leapfrogged Australia’s Cathryn Fitzpatrick when she took her 181st wicket.

Sony Pictures India took to the micorblogging site Twitter to confirm the news of acquirng the service for biopic of Jhulan Goswami.

The Tweet read as, “Hands down one of the most inspiring life stories ever told – legendary woman ODI cricketer @JhulanG10 ‘s life is set to come alive on the big screen! We can’t wait to bring Jhulan Biopic to you with our partners at Dunamis Entertainment – @rajneesh_chopra and @GBspeak”.
