Former India teammates and captains Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid are once again gearing up to serve Indian cricket together albeit not on the field. Both the players are now holding two of the most important roles in Indian cricket. While Sourav Ganguly was recently elected as the president of BCCI, Dravid is the head of National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The former teammates will now reconnect in Bengaluru on Wednesday (October 30) to discuss the roadmap of Indian cricket’s feeder line. Dravid, who served as the head coach of India A and India U19 teams, has already drawn a roadmap for the institution. Sourav Ganguly is now expected to give his own inputs.

The meeting will be attended by all the newly elected BCCI office-bearers who took charge earlier this month. NCA CEO Tufan Ghosh will also be part of discussions. In the last few years, the NCA, which was supposed to be the supply line of Indian cricket, has actually become a rehabilitation center. Sourav Ganguly himself admitted the same about the NCA. The legendary captain is likely to take all updates from the academy.

“Ganguly and Dravid will be discussing the way forward for NCA and the issues it faces,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Sourav Ganguly, meanwhile, has made it clear that his prime focus would be on first-class cricket. The former Cricket Association of Bengal president has hinted that not much is there to be done with the national team which is one of the best if not the best in the world.

“For me, my biggest focus will be first-class cricket,” Ganguly had said days before taking over as BCCI president.

“I have been very vocal about looking after the first-class players, especially the time they invest. First-class cricket is the base, the strength. I have written so many times in the last few years that the remunerations need to increase, and increase manifold. So that’s going to be priority to set the fc cricket in order. Look at cricket structure, look how governance happens and see smooth functioning happens with no issues,” he added.
