BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Congratulates Saurashtra For Maiden Ranji Trophy Victory

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has congratulated Saurashtra on their maiden Ranji Trophy title triumph. Saurashtra cricket team have won their maiden Ranji title, having declared champions in Rajkot after taking a lead of 44 runs on the fifth day.

In reply to Bengal’s total of 425, Bengal fell short by 44 runs on the final day which handed their opposition a firm grip on the match.

It was the first time Saurashtra lifted their title after losing to Mumbai in the final in the past decade on both the occasions.

Former Indian captain and the current BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to congratulate Saurashtra on an emphatic win in the final.

Saurashtra Win Their Maiden Ranji Trophy

As per the rules, if the final of the Ranji Trophy is headed towards a draw, then the winner is decided on the basis of the first-innings lead. Whoever manages to take the lead in the first innings, is declared as the champion. Saurashtra had taken a lead of 44 runs after bundling out Bengal for 381 in the first innings.

In the second innings, Saurashtra managed to score 105/4 and hey had done enough to win maiden Ranji Trophy title. Bengal last won the title in 1989-90.
