Recently, the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sourav Ganguly gave a piece of stunning news for the fans by revealing the plan to arrange a series among the top 4 teams that involve India, England, Australia and another top-playing nation. Though it received massive applause from the fans, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif wasn’t impressed much with the idea.

Ganguly is reported to have revealed that the Indian board has been in discussion with the ECB and Cricket Australia about staging a four-nation tournament, hosted by rotation, every year. Though it disturbs the ICC schedule, the president of BCCI is keen on moving things further to make something big.

However, the former Pakistan player Rashid Latif believes that the plan of Sourav Ganguly will be a flop. Further, he highlighted the point in isolating the other top four nations in the world cricket. Rashid Latif also recollected the idea of Big Three Model, which failed to meet the expectations of the officials.

“By playing such a series, these four countries want to isolate the other member nations, which is not good news.  But I think this will be a flop idea like the Big Three model, which was introduced a few years back,” said Latif in a YouTube video.

We are open to discussion – ECB

Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also stated the same saying they are open to conversations with other members to see whether the four-nation tournament can be worked out.

“We meet regularly with other leaders from the major cricketing nations to share learnings and discuss topics that impact our sport,” said an ECB statement according to The Telegraph. “A four-nation tournament was raised at a meeting with the BCCI in December, and we are open to discussions with other ICC members to see if this concept can develop.”

Well, it would be interesting to see whether things will move forward or not. Mostly, the other board members would oppose the idea, as there is a danger of losing the revenue for other nations if they won’t play with the top cricketing boards.
