South Africa deny India whitewash:

Riding on a fighting unbeaten 90 from Mignon du Preez, South Africa beat India by seven wickets. Batting first, India scored 240 in the allotted 50 overs.

Deepti Sharma top-scored for last year’s World Cup finalists. Veda Krishnamurthy also played a handy knock of 56. However, other players failed to deliver, as India posted a modest total. For the hosts, Shabnim Ismail starred with the ball, picking up four for 30 off nine overs.

In reply, South Africa chased down the total with four balls remaining and losing only three wickets. Her teammates well-supported mignon du Preez while Laura Wolvaardt and skipper Dane van Niekerk scored 59 and 41, respectively as the hosts avoided a whitewash.
