South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has been ruled out from the T20I series against Pakistan with a groin injury. The attacking southpaw batsman has been replaced by Janneman Malan who plays for Cape Cobras. The left-handed de Kock sustained the injury during his blistering inning of 83 runs off just 58 balls. Quinton helped Proteas in getting off to a flyer and he was at his best. South Africa won the decider by seven wickets and hence the series by 3-2.
However, the hosts will have to miss the services of the stumper in the T20I series. Meanwhile, Gihahn Cloete had kept the wickets in the first T20I which South Africa won by six runs.

Janneman Malan is in good form.
Subsequently, Quinton de Kock will now undergo the rehabilitation program in which he is expected to take some time. Furthermore, Faf du Plessis has also been rested for the remaining T20I matches. In fact, the new captain is yet to be decided.
“Quinton sustained an injury to his left groin while fielding during the last ODI on Wednesday. He will be unable to take part in the T20I series against Pakistan and we are hopeful he will be fit for selection for the Test series against Sri Lanka starting in Durban on February 13th,” team manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee explained.

South Africa will like to take an unassailable lead.
On the other hand, Janneman Malan has a T20 hundred and he averages 32.21 in 24 T20 games he has played. In fact, Malan has been in great form in the recent past as he scored two fine knocks of 67 and 168 against Warriors at Port Elizabeth.
“Janneman was one of the standout players during the Mzansi Super League and has been putting in the runs consistently at franchise level. He is an exciting young prospect, this is a great opportunity for us to continue blooding players at international level,” Selection Convener Linda Zondi said.
The second T20I between South Africa and Pakistan will take place at Johannesburg on 3 February.
