South African Women Cricketers Dane van Niekerk And Marizanne Kapp Tie The Knot

South African women’s cricket team captain Dane van Niekerk, on Saturday,  married her teammate Marizanne Kapp. They  became the second women’s cricket pair to get married after New Zealand’s Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu.

Kapp revealed the news on Instagram writing:

According to reports, most of the players from the South African team attended the wedding.

Both the players made their international debut within two days of each other during the 2009 World Cup. Van Niekerk made her debut against West Indies on March 8, while Kapp was handed her first cap a couple of days later.

So far, van Niekerk has represented South Africa in 1 Test, 95 ODIs and 68 T20Is. In 95 ODIs, van Niekerk has scored 1770 runs at an average of 33.39, including seven half-centuries. She also has 125 ODI wickets to her name.

The all-rounder has scored 1469 runs in T20Is at an average of 28.80, including nine half-centuries. She also has 49 T20I scalps to her name. Earlier this year, she won the 2017-18 CSA Women’s-Cricketer-of-the-Year Award. Van Niekerk is also South Africa’s leading wicket-taker in ODIs.

On the other hand, Kapp has played 93 ODIs and 62 T20Is for South Africa. The right-hand batswoman has scored 1618 runs in ODIs. She is sixth on the list of highest run-getters for her country. She has also taken 99 ODI wickets at an average of 24.84 and an economy rate of 3.66.

In T20Is, she has scored 600 runs at a strike rate of 93.16 and taken 48 wickets at an average of 19.20 and an economy rate of 5.52.
