Putting an end to all the speculations surrounding their tour of Pakistan, Sri Lanka Cricket, on Thursday, confirmed that the series will go ahead as planned. The Islanders are set to visit Pakistan for a limited-overs tour, starting letter this month. Sri Lanka will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Pakistan.
The tour was under doubt after as many as ten players pulled out due to security reasons and Sri Lanka Cricket later received a threat letter. However, the authorities are now assured of the security arrangement as Pakistan government pledged the same level of security to their players as is provided to visiting heads of state.

The board issued a statement on Thursday saying that Sri Lanka’s defence ministry has confirmed that it has received no information through any intelligence agency about a threat to the Sri Lanka team or the tour. Sri Lanka’s High Commission in Pakistan also has no information indicating a threat, SLC said, adding that Pakistan’s army will coordinate the security arrangements.
“(The) tour of Pakistan will go ahead as planned, following assurances given by the government of Pakistan that it will provide maximum security arrangements for the team during their entire duration of stay in Pakistan,” SLC said.

Pakistan are desperately trying to resume international cricket at home on a regular basis since the attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. Pakistan could not host an international match for six years after that attack and was compelled to shift base to UAE. They have hosted teams such as Zimbabwe and West Indies in recent years but only for limited-overs matches.
