Sri Lanka Vs India 2017: Ahead Of ODIs, Virat Kohli & MS Dhoni Fight It Out On The Field

Before Team India lock horns against Sri Lanka in the upcoming five-match One-Day International series, two of its biggest stalwarts- Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh were involved in a battle of their own. Well, the current India skipper and his predecessor batted it out on a game of football in Dambulla, the venue where the Men in Blue will play the first ODI on Sunday (August 20).

Football is a common sight these days in practise sessions as the teams have made it a must-have ahead of the main training. Dhoni and Kohli’s love for football, nevertheless , is well-known as both the players have their own teams in the Indian Super League (ISL).

Kohli had once revealed why the team takes to football before starting training.

“Whenever the team is feeling down or we’ve had a hectic travel day and don’t have the energy to do normal warm-up, football gives the extra motivation to run after a ball and show our skills. Basically, it gets the competitive nature out in a big way. Whenever we feel like we have to bond as a team and get our energy going, we have a quick game of football and we are ready to go,” he had said.

Well, the team is surely not down on confidence after winning the Test series 3-0 but a hectic travel day can be a reason and the players once again refreshed themselves up with a game of football.
