ToggleAfter planishing Sri Lanka in first three games, South Africa will be eying to make it 4-0 in the next ODI.
The fourth game of five-match ODI series will be played in Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The game is scheduled to take place on August 8 (Wednesday).
As far as records are concerned, Sri Lanka will try to jinx, as visitors are going through a winning streak or eleven matches against them.
Sri Lanka had already lost this series 3-0. However, a win from here can save them from an embarrassing defeat that will be then on the cards.
A brief description of the last encounter
In the recent game, South Africa put a pile of runs courtesy a hundred from the debutant Reeza Hendricks. While batting first, South Africa set a massive total of 363 for the loss of seven wickets.
The openers of South Africa gave a good start, as they put an opening total of 42. Hashim Amla slammed his 36th ODI half-century. He scored run a ball 59 that included nine fours and a flat six.
Apart from that, it was a superb show from Reeza Hendricks, as he scored a fabulous ton and ended his inning with the figures of 102 off 89.
He got enough from the opposite end, as Jean-Paul Duminy gave him the opportunity to free his arms. Duminy missed his well-deserved century, as he fell just short of eight runs.
While chasing, apart from Dhananjaya de Silva no other batsmen could successfully tackle the bowling unit of South Africa. Silva was the top scorer with 84 off 66. All other batsmen of Sri Lanka got off to an excellent start. However, they could not capitalize on that. Sri Lanka could only amass 285 and lost the game by 78 runs.

Team News: The skipper of South Africa, Faf du Plessis will miss the remaining of the Sri Lanka tour. He sustained a shoulder injury that ruled him out from the remaining two ODIs and a lone T20. He was not able to return and will need up to six weeks to make a full recovery.
Quinton de Kock would be the stand-in captain during that game and made some interesting DRS decisions. The wicket-keeper, however, would captain the Proteas for the remaining two games.
