Sri Lankan Fan, Gayan Senanayake Reveals Chat With Virat Kohli

Senanayake, who was in attendance at Virat Kohli’s wedding reception, fondly remembers the time when he first met the now Indian skipper and recalls the time when Kohli was yet to play international cricket. The U19 team had travelled to Sri Lanka, where both of them met for the first time,

“That was the first time I met him and had a chat. He was the captain of the team,” he told The Hindu.

Senanayake can be easily seen in the crowd cheering for the Sri Lankan team. During recently concluded Sri Lanka tour of India as well, he was seen sitting alongside fans and cheering for his time. Senanayake got an invitation for Virat’s reception party, and later, he revealed what Virat asked him,

“He asked me when I plan to get married and if I have a girlfriend. I said no because I want the freedom to travel for all the matches Sri Lanka plays. He said I must find someone. Virat is a good guy!” he further added.

Sri Lankan cricket team did not attend party of the Indian team’s skipper and left the country as soon as the series got over.

The visitors first lost the Test series by a margin of 1-0 followed by a defeat in ODI series by 2-1. In the T20I series, there was no reprieve for the side, and they could not win even a single game in the shortest format.

This was the second time in the year when Sri Lanka lost a series to India in all formats of the game. On the previous occasion, India defeated Sri Lanka in all the nine games across formats to keep them winless on their home soil.
