Sri Lankan Police Gives a Clean Chit to Danushka Gunathilaka

Sri Lankan Kollupitya Police has given a clean chit to their cricketer, Danushka Gunathilaka. The southpaw opening batsman was suspended by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Gunathilaka was accused of being involved in a rape case of two Norwegian women.
In fact, police grilled one more person of British-passport holder who is of the Lankan origin. Consequently, a Sri Lankan official said the women had filled a case against the Lions’ player.

Subsequently, the Sri Lankan board had suspended the player for the misconduct charges. Thus, the police then initiated the investigation.
However, the Kollupitya Police found Gunathilaka to be innocent. Meanwhile, Gunathilaka was part of the Sri Lankan squad that won the series against South Africa 2-0.
In fact, the left-hander Gunathilaka had scored a fine fifty in the second innings. It eventually helped the hosts in strengthening their lead.
The 26-year-old “is under arrest and we are continuing our investigations,” a police official had told AFP. “A Norwegian tourist made the complaint of rape,” he added.
A Sri Lankan journalist Daniel Alexander took to Twitter to share the news. He added Danushka Gunathilaka is given a clean chit by the Sri Lankan police.
“Danushka Gunathilaka is innocent and not involved in any wrongdoing, We are not holding any further inquiries against the cricketer – Kollupitiya Police OIC,” Alexander reveals.
