Team India will be desperate to return to winning ways when they take on Bangladesh in a crucial World Cup clash on Tuesday. A lot will be at stake when both the teams lock horns at Edgbaston, Birmingham. While India will have a chance of sealing their spot in the semifinals by winning this game, Bangladesh need to win it any cost to keep their chances of progressing ahead alive.

In case India end up on the losing the game, they will still be in contention for the semifinals. However, their last league game could become a do-or-die match for them if the other results do not go their way. And with Sri Lanka being their opponent in the last league game, India will be desperate to seal their last four spot today itself.

For Bangladesh, a win is the only option to stay in hunt. A win today will keep their semifinal hopes and if they also beat Pakistan in their final group game and other results go their way, they will be making their first appearance in the World Cup semifinal.

But if current form and history is considered, India are the firm favourites to win the upcoming clash. History and stats heavily favour Team India to win the clash. In ODIs, India and Bangladesh have locked horns in 3 games and the former have thoroughly dominated this contest. While India have defeated Bangladesh 29 times, the latter have won just 5 times.

As far as the stats in ODIs are concerned, India and Bangladesh have played three games so far with the former winning two of them. Bangladesh’s solitary World Cup win over India came way back in 2007. Beating India in the World Cup will be a herculean task for Bangladesh. India have lost only three games so far since the 2011 World Cup.

India also have a solid record in ODIs at Edgbaston. So far, the Men in Blue have played 11 games at this venue and have won seven of them. One of those wins came against Bangladesh in the semifinal of the 2017 Champions Trophy.
