India skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy continue to fight for supremacy in T20Is. Both the players are leading the race for the leading run-scorer in the shortest format of the game. Earlier this year, Rohit went past Virat Kohli to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is. But on Wednesday, Virat Kohli moved back to the top.

The India skipper achieved the feat in the second T20I against South Africa after scoring a match-winning half-century. Virat Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 72 as India chased down the total of 149 without any sort of trouble. Rohit, on the other hand, had failed to get going early on as he managed just 12.

But the race has been so close that Rohit can surpass Virat Kohli in the very next game. Virat Kohli is currently leading Rohit by just seven runs. While the captain has so far scored 2,441 runs, the vice-captain has scored 2,434 runs. Thus one will not really bet against Rohit’s chances. Moreover, Rohit also opens the innings and thus will get the opportunity first to take the lead.

As Rohit and Virat Kohli continue their duel in T20Is, we are taking a look at their stats.

As far as stats are concerned or rather consistency, Virat Kohli is well ahead of the rest including Rohit. While Kohli has a narrow lead over Rohit in the leading run-scorers’ list, he has amazingly played 26 matches less than his teammate. Perhaps this is the reason why there is also a hug gap between the average of the two players.

While Kohli has thus far 22 fifties, Rohit has 17. However, Rohit leads the list when it comes to scoring centuries in T20Is. While Rohit has four centuries to his name, Kohli is yet to score his first.
