Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Steve Smith has come up with a hilarious statement after his side’s loss to Kolkata Knight Riders on Matchday 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). KKR beat RR by 37 runs as they went on to win their second game on the trot after beating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last game.

On Wednesday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Matchday 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). Losing the toss, KKR were invited to bat first in the tie and the Knight Riders capitalized on the opportunity as they managed to score 174 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and put on a challenging total on the board.

Chasing the target, the Rajasthan batsmen succumbed to the pressure as the Royals from Rajasthan could score only 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. This was Rajasthan’s first loss in IPL 2020 as they had won both their games coming in this match. For KKR, this was their second win after they beat SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) after having lost the first game to Mumbai Indians (MI).

Steve Smith: Few Still Thought We Were Playing In Sharjah

In the post-match ceremony, RR skipper Steve Smith said, “Didn’t quite go to plan. That happens in T20 cricket sometimes, we have a few areas to improve on, and keep moving forward. You could go one way or another, KKR like to chase. We planned to put their death bowling under pressure but obviously couldn’t do that as we lost wickets upfront.”

“Few of us still thought we were playing in Sharjah. It did (feel a lot different), the far side is a very big side and we didn’t see too many balls going there and the other side is slightly shorter,” Steve Smith added.

We Didn’t Adapt Well To The Conditions: Steve Smith

Steve Smith further said, “We probably didn’t adapt to the dimensions and the wicket, also dropped a few catches which cost us. It is about forming whatever XI is best for the conditions we are facing, we will wait and see. Disappointing tonight but we need to keep moving forward. It wasn’t a great battle (with Cummins), he won easily and spoke to him now and he said you smack those in the nets, sometimes you just get a good one.”

RR will now take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on October 3 at Abu Dhabi. They are currently on the 3rd spot in the IPL 2020 points table and will try to gain the 1st spot in the next game.
