Australia star Steve Smith, on Sunday, revealed the name of the Indian batsman who has impressed him the most. The right-handed batsman was holding a question-answer session on Instagram when he was asked the question.

During his illustrious career so far that has spanned over a decade, Steve Smith has played against a number of batting stalwarts from India. He has played against former batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and many more.

In recent years, he has played against the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan and others. However, Steve Smith snubbed the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as he revealed that KL Rahul is the Indian batsman who has impressed him the most.

“KL Rahul. Very good player,” wrote Steve Smith when the fan asked him ‘which Indian player impressed you the most?’.

KL Rahul is widely regarded as one of the most talented Indian batsmen at present. While there is little denying that he is indeed very strong technically, he has struggled for consistency in his career. However, the right-handed batsman has been doing extremely well in limited-overs format since last year’s T20 World Cup.

He was India’s most impressive performer during the challenging tour of New Zealand earlier this year.  In the five-match T20I series, he scored two fifties while scoring 27, 39 and 45 in the other three games as India clean swept the series. In the ODI series which India lost 0-3, KL Rahul smashed an unbeaten 88 in the first game before scoring 112 in the third game.
