It has been almost a year since the infamous “brain-fade” incident took place, but it seems it is still fresh in every fan’s mind.

During the Bengaluru Test against India, Australia captain Steven Smith had controversially tried to seek input from the dressing room before being caught red-handed by the Indian players. Smith had gone on to call it a brain-fade moment and was slammed by several quarters for his unethical approach.

“From my point of view, I think they’re completely wrong. I obviously came out after the game and said I made a mistake and it was an error on my behalf, it was a brain fade,” Smith had said at that time. “In regards to saying we do it consistently, that’s complete rubbish in my opinion. I think he was wrong in his statement.”

A lot had happened since then – Pakistan won the Champions Trophy against all the odds; Virat Kohli scored two more double centuries; Rohit Sharma scored a record-equalling third double ton in ODIs. Not only this, Australia won the Ashes but that brain-fade moment is still fresh in the fan’s mind, and Steven Smith has once again paid the price for it.

The Australia star, however, has only himself to blame for it, as he was mercilessly trolled on Twitter after he tagged the wrong woman, in place of his girlfriend, while sharing a photograph from Melbourne where he was attending the ongoing Australia Open.

“Great night out at the @AustralianOpen with @dani_willis we both absolutely love our tennis! Thanks @CraigTiley for having us. What a belter f a match!” tweeted Smith who also shared a picture alongside tennis legend Roger Federer.

And as soon Smith posted the tweet, the fans jumped into action, trolling him for his mistake.
