Steven Smith's Wedding With Dani Willis in No Jeopardy, Confirms Peter Smith

Peter Smith, father of disgraced Australian cricketer Steven Smith, confirmed his son’s wedding with his long-time girlfriend, Dani Willis is in no jeopardy.

Recently, Sandpaper Gate jolted the cricketing world which unfolded during the third Test in Cape Town Test against South Africa in March.

Australian captain, Steven Smith, along with vice-captain David Warner and opener Bancroft, after admitting to cheating and ball tampering, were handed bans by Cricket Australia.

Subsequently, Smith and co. received a harsh send-off in South Africa and unpleasant welcome back home in Sydney.

The video of Peter Smith, who stood aside former Aussie captain during the heartbreaking press conference, shoving Smith’s cricket kit into their garage, did quite a few rounds in the media.

It was speculated that Smith’s marriage, due this year, might be postponed due to the entire ball-tampering fiasco. However, in a recent interaction, Peter affirmed that getting married to Dani Willis is now his priority.

Steve is trying to relax away from Australia, says Peter

After addressing the media at Sydney Airport, Steven Smith instantly took the next flight to Dubai to distant himself from the controversy and focused on himself.

Earlier, one of the media outlets spotted Smith with his fiancee at a bar in New York.

The two have been dating since 2011 Smith popped the question to Dani Willis. The tentative date for the wedding is chalked out to be somewhere around September this year.

“She has been incredibly supportive. Dani is his complete and absolute rock. It’s fair to say the wedding is still on. That’s their priority now. Steve is trying to relax away from Australia. He has to be away from things at the moment to get back to where he was, slowly and surely,” Peter Smith told Daily Telegraph.
