Good wishes continue to galore for England fast bowler Stuart Broad after he became the second-youngest bowler and only the fourth seamer in the history of the game to claim 500 Test match wickets.

”Congrats on the win & on 500th wicket too mate and at only 34 years of age – still plenty of time left, 700+ a good chance.” tweeted Shane Warne, who is the first bowler to beech the 700-wicket barrier in Test cricket.

It has been a roller-coster three weeks for Stuart Broad. Dropped from the first Test at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, the 34-year-old channelized his frustration and disappointment into performances in the succeeding two Tests.

The right-hander once again proved why he is an irresistible force in seaming conditions, claiming 16 wickets across four innings, including a ten-wicket haul in the third Test. Besides that, Broad also stroked a whirlwind 62 off 45 balls in England’s first inning to help his side post an eventual series-winning total. Broad was named both ‘Player of the Match’ as well as ‘Player of the Series’ and by virtue of his performances, he is now the No.3 ranked fast bowler in the world.

Broad’s moment of reckoning came on the fifth morning when he dismissed Windies opener, Kraigg Brathwaite, as his 500th scalp. Broad is only the 7th bowler in history to claim 500 wickets and considering the form he is in, no wonder the like of James Anderson, Michael Atherton, and now Shane Warne is reckoning that the 34-year-old might break a few more records by the time his career ends.
