The Test series between South Africa and England has witnessed a lot of dramatic events during the course of the game. All the players from either side were pumped up during the contest for various reasons. A few of them crossed the line, for which, they already received the punishments from the ICC. Now, Stuart Broad joins the bandwagon after involving in an altercation with Faf du Plessis.

The incident happened on the fourth day of the Test match when South Africa were chasing the 467-run target with du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen at the crease.

Stuart Broad is two demerit points away from the ban:

A throw from Sam Curran, who was fielding at mid-on, hit Du Plessis on the pads which led to a verbal exchange between the South African skipper and English fielders. Du Plessis then appeared to deliberately walk into Jos Buttler before having a heated argument with Broad. Thus, Joe Root had to intervene and separate the duo.

The cricket governing body found Broad guilty of breaching article 2.3 of the code, which relates to “use of an audible obscenity during an international match”. Furthermore, he has been docked 15 per cent of his match fee.

The seamer has also been handed a demerit point for his actions. Broad has now collected two demerit points over 24 months. Should he reach four points, he would receive an automatic suspension.

This is not the first time for a player to get suspension points by ICC in the four-match Test series.

The wicketkeeper-batsman Buttler, South Africa’s Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada have already received the demerit points by the apex body.

England thrashed South Africa by 191 runs in the 4th and final Test to claim the four-match series 3-1 on Monday. Chasing a huge target of 466 runs in the 2nd innings of the final Test at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa were skittled out for 274 as England pacer Mark Wood ran riot finishing with a four-wicket haul.
