Stuart Broad and James Anderson Are Like Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram: Dominic Cork

Stuart Broad and James Anderson are the most successful fast bowling pair in the history of England cricket team. While James Anderson holds the record for most Test wickets for England, Broad is second on the list and bowling in tandem the duo have achieved plenty of success for their national team.
Anderson has picked up 587 Test wickets for England while Broad has 485 scalps to his name. However, in the ongoing Test series against the West Indies, the duo have not been able to play together. In the Southampton Test Stuart Broad was overlooked as Jofra Archer and Mark Wood were picked up ahead of him while at Old Trafford, James Anderson has been dropped from the playing eleven.
Former England fast bowler Dominic Cork feels Broad and Anderson should play together. He cited the examples of West Indies greats Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh and Pakistan’s Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram to say that Broad and Anderson hold a similar stature.
“Broad and Anderson are of a similar ilk to Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh, Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram – we have to give them their time to keep playing together,” Cork said on Sky Sports’ ‘The Cricket Debate’.
“As a senior bowler you know what you have to do to get through a Test match,” he added.
Broad has picked up 178 wickets in the ODIs at an average over 30 while he has 118 scalps in the shortest format of the game.
Anderson, on the other hand, has picked up 269 wickets in ODIs and 18 in the shortest format of the game.
