Sunil Gavaskar Hails MS Dhoni As 'India's Best-Ever Captain' After CSK Win IPL 2020 Opener

Sunil Gavaskar was over the moon with his remarks on MS Dhoni as the former India captain made a return to competitive cricket after a span of over a year. Gavaskar, in the IPL 2020 opener, said that the since MS Dhoni is from Ranchi he has fans all over the country unlike Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli who have massive following only in their hometowns.

And as CSK beat defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening contest, an elated Sunil Gavakar hailed MS Dhoni as India’s best-ever captain. The little master also mentioned that Dhoni has produced results which speak for themselves as he won it all across format and also succeed with CSK.

“He’s always been superb as captain. There is no question about it. I mean he has been by far India’s best-ever captain. The results show for themselves. He has won all the limited-overs titles, taken India at No. 1 in Tests, and won 3 IPL titles for CSK. What more can you ask from a person?” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports after CSK won IPL 2020 opener.

“As he explained himself at the presentation, he uses the word express themselves, but I think what he actually means is, ‘get that experience, show that you can do it’.

Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.

All the success had made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he was on the field.

Dhoni understood the game well. He knew the strength of the side and backs his players accordingly. He did not takes any kind of frivolous decisions and likes to maintain his calm. It is due to these qualities Dhoni came up as one of the most calm and composed character on the cricket field.
