Delhi Capitals Have A Genuine Chance To Win IPL 2020: Sunil Gavaskar

Delhi Capitals have a genuine chance to win the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League [IPL], feels former Indian opener-turned commentator, Sunil Gavaskar.

Delhi Capitals have been the perennial underachievers in the history of the IPL and are still chasing their maiden title triumph. The Shreyas Iyer-led unit, however, had a brilliant season last year as they managed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in seven years.

According to Gavaskar, Delhi Capitals have a brilliant set of players this season. He also complimented the choices that the management made while picking overseas players in the auctions.

“There is a very good chance for Delhi Capitals to win IPL 2020. They have selected very good players and if their batting clicks then they can surely win this time. They have also selected their overseas players really well and so I feel they have got a great chance this time. This will be their first IPL title if they win and they have got a great chance.”Sunil Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

Sunil Gavaskar heaps praise on Delhi Capitals batting

In Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, skipper Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer, the Capitals have a power-packed batting-unit and Sunil Gavaskar feels that even if two of their batsman click, the Delhi-based franchise will able to post big totals on the board.

“The kind of batting ability that they have, even if two of their batsmen click, then they have the ability to post big totals. Prithvi Shaw can open the batting and give a good start. Shreyas Iyer can come in at number three and play big shots. Rishabh Pant can bat at No.4 and also can play as a finisher and give more runs to the team. Therefore I believe that there is a potential for them to score loads of runs.” he added.

Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL 2020 campaign on September 20, when they take on the KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab at the Dubai International stadium.
