After former Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been conferred with the third highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan, his teammate Suresh Raina has congratulated the prominent professional, for scaling heights in the gentleman’s game.
Moreover, Dhoni has become overall eleventh Indian cricketer to seal the award.

“Congratulations Mahi bhai on receiving the
#PadmaBhushan,” Raina took to microblogging website Twitter.
Owing to the heartwarming Tweet, Raina further lauds former Indian skipper for donning the army uniform.
“It was wonderful seeing you in Territorial army uniform, marching with dignity to receive the award. Many more such glories coming your way. @msdhoni,” Raina tweets.
In September 2017, the astute thinker Dhoni was nominated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the award.
In the recent past, the Ranchi-based cricketer has received the prestigious awards like Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2007, Arjuna, and Padma Shri awards in 2009 respectively.
But Padma Shri award is the fourth highest civilian award in India.
In 2008 and 2009, Dhoni bagged the ICC ODI Player of the year award.
Solely being honoured for his contribution to the cricket, President of India Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 2 (Monday).
Interestingly, Dhoni received the honour on the same day when he won the ICC World Cup title with a memorable six at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against Sri Lanka in 2011.
Pertinently, Dhoni has subsequently thanked the security personnel after walking away with the award.
But, donning the territory uniform, Dhoni is enjoying the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He marched towards president Kovind amid huge applause. Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni expressed delight to see his husband receiving one of the major awards.
On November 1, 2011, the Indian Territorial Army conferred Dhoni following his significant achievements for India.
Alongside, Dhoni ace Billiards player Pankaj Advani also received the Padma Bhushan for his excellent service in the field of sports.
However, Dhoni has won two IPL titles for Super Kings. The side is returning to the fold after a two-year break.
In addition, the team will kick off their campaign on April 7 against reigning champions Mumbai Indians.
