Following an impressive victory in the opening T20I against South Africa, Team India was seen in a jovial mood. Comeback man Suresh Raina shared a picture with his teammates with a caption, “Best way to enjoy a good win. Dinner time with the boys.“ The picture seemed to be in a restaurant. Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Raina himself, captain and former skipper and Shikhar Dhawan were there in the picture.

After a convincing series victory in the ODI series, India began as firm favourites for the shortest format. They did their reputation no harm after registering a convincing 28 runs victory, It was an all-round effort which gave India a 1-0 lead. Opener Shikhar Dhawan continued his brilliant form. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, on the other hand, finished with exceptional figures of 5/24.

Winning the toss it was South African interim skipper JP Duminy who won the toss and put the visitors in. Rohit Sharma began with some exquisite shots before his dismissal on 21. Dhawan, on the other hand, kept playing the big shots. The southpaw scored 72 of 39 deliveries which included 10 fours and a couple of maximums.

The visitors eventually finished their 20 overs on 203/5. South African openers JJ Smuts and Reeza Hendricks began with some fluent shots. The duo shared a brief stand of 28 runs before Bhuvi dismissed Smuts. However, Reeza Hendricks played some delightful shots. Farhan Behardien was there to support him and the pair shared a 81 runs stand between them.

However, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar whose magical spell in the death overs did the job for the visitors. The pacer bagged 5 wickets and was adjudged the Player of the Match. “ I just wanted to bowl in the right areas. Seeing how they were bowling, we chalked out our plan. We wanted to take pace off the ball. When you do well in tough situations, you enjoy it. I have been bowling that knuckle ball with the seam up since the last one year. Worked on it in the IPL,” he said at the post-match presentation.
