Suresh Raina’s decision to withdraw from the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League came as a thunderbolt to all his fans after the Chennai Super Kings confirmed that the southpaw has returned to India amd will not be taking any part in the tournament due to personal reasons.

Raina was a part of CSK’s bio-bubble and everything was going well until 13 members of the set-up, including two players in Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested positive for coronavirus.

According to reports, Raina’s decision was influenced by his concern for his family, especially his two kids- Gracia and Rio.

According to a report in Jagran, Suresh Raina has returned to Delhi from the United Arab Emirates and has quarantined himself at his residence in the national capital.

Nothing more important than kids,” Suresh Raina was quoted as saying by Jagran.

Raina is a vital cog in the Chennai Super Kings set-up and it will be interesting to see how the franchise copes with his absence.

As far as his replacement is concerned, the franchise is not in any rush, as revaled by CSK’S CEO Kasi Vishwanathan. The team members will now be quarantining themselves till September 06 while the infected playeda have been duly isolated.

Raina also endured a personal tragedy recently after his uncle was killed and father’s sister critically injured during an attack on them in Pathankot.
