Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday, sprung a huge surprise by returning to action for the game between Mumbai Indians and SunRisers Hyderabad. The opener was sidelined with a hamstring injury that he had sustained on October 18 during the clash against Kings XI Punjab.

Last week, he was not named in any of India’s three squads for the tour of Australia. At the time of announcing the squads, the BCCI had said that its medical team would continue to Rohit Sharma’s injury. The omission gave an impression that the injury was serious and the batsman would take a good amount of time to recover.

However, Rohit Sharma, on his part, never gave that impression. Soon after the squad was announced, Mumbai Indians announced that their skipper has returned to training in the nets. Rohit Sharma was seen batting in the nets on Sunday too.

Suresh Raina reacts to Rohit Sharma’s return:

While Rohit Sharma’s return has caused quite a stir on the social media with many expressing surprise over the same, former India batsman Suresh Raina is delighted with the news. Soon after the Mumbai Indians skipper took the field for toss, Suresh Raina took to Twitter to express his delight over the comeback, writing:

“Rock it brother @ImRo45 so good to see you back on the ground”

The right-handed batsman, nonetheless, failed to score big on his return. He managed to score only 4 off seven balls before being sent back by pacer Sandeep Sharma.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma looks likely to make it to Australia now after returning to action. India are scheduled to tour Australia for three ODIs, three T20Is and four Tests.
