Former Indian cricketer and 2011 World Cup-winner, Suresh Raina, took to his official Twitter account, to share the news of him signing the ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.

The signing of the MoU clears the path for the champion white-ball cricketer for building training facilities for budding cricketers in the Union Territory.

Extremely delighted to sign the MoU with J&K Sports Council for training budding cricketers across the Union Territory. In presence of J&K Lt. Governor @manojsinha_, Chief Secretary BVR Subramaniam and Principal Secretary to LG @nitishwarKumar. Great beginnings & things ahead, ” Suresh Raina wrote.

Suresh Raina to build sanitation facilities at 34 government schools

The development is in addition to the pledge that Suresh Taina has undertaken of building sanitation and drinking facilities at 34 government schools across Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, and the National Capital Region.

Raina has decided to ring in his 34th birthday on November 27 with a plethora of philanthropic activities in association with his NGO, the Gracia Raina Foundation.

As per Suresh Raina’s statement, the initiative will serve to health and hygiene to over 10000 children studying in these schools.

The former cricketer, along with his wife, Priyanka, a co-founder of the foundation, has kicked-off his birthday week by inaugurating the upgraded drinking facilities, separate toilets for boys and girls, hand washing, dishwashing area, and smart classrooms at Govt Composite Middle School, Noor Nagar Sihani, Ghaziabad.

“It brings me immense joy to celebrate my 34th birthday with this initiative. Every child deserves a quality education, this includes their right to have access to safe and clean drinking water and toilet facilities in schools. I hope we can contribute to this with Gracia Raina Foundation collaborating with Yuva Unstoppable,” Suresh Raina was quoted as saying by ‘The Hindu’

“It is truly humbling to see the upgraded facilities benefiting thousands of kids. This is an excellent start and we look forward to transforming many more schools in the future. There was no better way I could have celebrated my birthday, it was a truly heartwarming experience.” he added.
