Suryakumar Yadav has been in stunning form in the ongoing domestic season. At a time when India are desperately searching for a reliable finisher, Suryakumar Yadav has shown he can be that man. The right-handed batsman looked class apart in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and is currently leading Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
He has managed to get rid of the inconsistent tag with his impressive performances this year. Suryakumar Yadav finished the Vijay Hazare Trophy with an average of 113, the highest in the competition. The Mumbai star continued in the same vein in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His tally of 392 was the third highest while his strike rate of 169 was the second-best among batsmen with 250 runs in the tournament.

India calling:
A lot has been said and head about Suryakumar Yadav’s chances of making it to the national team. And the right-hander is now looking set to earn his maiden India call-up. According to The Times of India, Suryakumar Yadav can be picked for the ODI series against Australia in place of Kedar Jadhav. The three-match ODI series will start in Mumbai (January 14) before Rajkot (January 17) and Bengaluru (January 19) host the other two games.
Jadhav has failed to impress with the bat in recent times and has also struggled with injuries. Moreover, he will be 38 by the time of the next ODI World Cup in 2023 and thus the selectors are reportedly interested in calling up Suryakumar.
“If Surya comes in at No 7, our batting line-up will be really strengthened. The problem is that both Manish Pandey and Surya can’t bowl, whereas Kedar can sneak in a few overs of part-time spin,” a source told the news outlet.
