Following a brilliant campaign with the bat in the domestic circuit, Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai rewarded with the captaincy role by the state board. He will be leading the team in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The notable names missing on the chart are Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw. However, both of them got the reasons to be out though.
Shreyas Iyer misses out:
Shreyas Iyer will be busy with his international stint while Prithvi Shaw will be in the final stages of his ban period. If Mumbai can go into the second round of the tournament, the board can give a call-up to Prithvi Shaw, who will be released from his ban.
Mumbai team is going to be captained by Surya Kumar Yadav, while players like Siddhesh Lad, Aditya Tare, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhawal Kulkarni are also part of this team. Apart from this, Tushar Deshpande has not been included in the team, which was a massive surprise.

They will next face Haryana (November 9), Madhya Pradesh (November 11), Puducherry (November 12), Bengal (November 14), Meghalaya (November 15) and Assam (November 17). They will play all their matches in Mumbai.
One of those surprising names to miss on the list is Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been a revelation in the recent past. Another notable name missing on the chart is Shardul Thakur, who is currently plying his trade with the Indian National Cricket Team.
However, the squad looks decent with the likes of Aditya Tare and Sarfaraz Khan named in the chart. Alongside them, the likes of Siddhesh Lad, Shubham Ranjane and Dhawal Kulkarni also found a place in the squad.
Squad:
Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Jay Bista, Aditya Tare, Sarfaraz Khan, Jaideep Pardeshi, Siddhesh Lad, Shubham Ranjane, Shams Mulani, Parikshit Valsangkar, Raunaq Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni, Kruthik Hangewadi, Deepak Shetty, Aquib Qureshi, Dhrumil Matkar.
