Yeah, yet again, a question arises regarding the best captain ever in Indian Cricket after Virat Kohli’s record-breaking run as a skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team. This time, it is Syed Kirmani, who joined the bandwagon to answer the ever-debating question. However, he got clarity in his answer, who picked MS Dhoni over Virat Kohli.

Currently, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is dubbed as the best captain ever for India. Syed Kirmani believes that there is no danger to MS Dhoni‘s tag as of now, as he thinks that Virat Kohli still got time to be called as the best captain of India. Kirmani quoted that Virat Kohli is still work in progress.

MS Dhoni succeeded in all the formats – Syed Kirmani

Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the most successful Test captain after India defeated West Indies at Jamaica to win the series 2-0. Virat, with 28 wins, edged over MS Dhoni who had 27 wins as Test captain. However, it didn’t satisfy Syed Kirmani yet. He picks MS Dhoni over Virat with a neat explanation.

“In every era, there has been a captain with different individuals. When Dhoni was the captain, he succeeded in all the three formats (Test, ODI, T20I) and took the Indian team to the highest level (No. 1). He was acclaimed as the best captain India ever had,” Kirmani told MyNation.

Virat Kohli has a long way to go:

Syed Kirmani quoted that there are easily 5 years left with Virat Kohli to lead the team. Kirmani wants Virat Kohli to achieve much more achievements in order to be called as best captain of India. He wants Kohli to lead the team to success across the formats like MS Dhoni did during his tenure as a skipper.

“After that, Virat (Kohli) took over. Give him some more time to achieve many more records. You cannot acclaim him as the best Indian captain ever. It is Dhoni who has been acclaimed as the best Indian captain ever, so far. So, Kohli has a long way to go. Easily, five more years are there with Kohli as India skipper,” he added.

Well, as Syed Kirmani said, Virat Kohli has a long way to go. He is yet to win a single ICC trophy for India despite being able to reach the final stages of the ICC events. So far, his greatest win as a captain came in Australia when India won a Test series. Mind you, Australians were in dark phase during that time without Steve Smith and David Warner.
