Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018: Prashant Chopra's 99* Leads Himachal Pradesh Victory Over Haryana In Super Over

Just like Ranji Trophy, Prashant Chopra made an impression in his opening game of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well by kicking off the tournament with a score of 99*.

After being left stranded on 99*, Chopra scored the winning runs for Himachal Pradesh in the Super Over too.

Riding on an innings of 99* from Chopra, Himachal Pradesh posted a score of 194 on the board. Ankush Bains and Paras Dogra too played their part in team’s total by playing an innings of 31 and 47 respectively.

Surprisingly, for Haryana, bowler Harshal Patel opened the innings and put his team right behind the target. Regular fall of wickets at the other end, however, continued to dent Haryana’s chances in the game.

Finally, the Amit Mishra led side ended their innings of 194 at the loss of eight wickets, which meant that match ended in a tie.

All the efforts put down by Haryana to tie the game were dampened when they lost both their wickets in the Super over on the first three deliveries from Pankaj Jaiswal. Prashant Chopra again came into the reckoning, and he scored the winning runs for Himachal Pradesh to give his team full four points.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018: Prashant Chopra's 99* Leads Himachal Pradesh Victory Over Haryana In Super Over

Mayank Agarwal continued his purple patch in the ongoing season and in the very first game of Zonal T20 league for his side, the opener played an innings of 55 off 35. On one side where Ravikumar Samarth (28 off 25) was playing cautiously, Mayank was busy scoring runs at a good strike rate.

Manish Pandey too warmed up well with an innings of 24 off 17. The right-handed batsman will though look to score more in the coming games before joining the Indian team. A collective effort and a late blitz from Stuart Binny (28* off 16) saw Karnataka posting a big total of 172 on the board against a weak Goa.

The Sagun Kamat led side never seemed to be in contention to chase down the target. They continued to lose wickets right from the start and in the end, ended the innings on 123/8 at the end of 20 overs. Skipper Kamat was the highest run scorer for the side who scored 28 off 36. Abhimanyu Mithun bowled a superb spell of 4-0-13-2 for his side.
