The Bengal Tigers had registered a comprehensive victory by three wickets against the Punjabi Legends in the 3rd encounter of the inaugural T10 League in Sharjah.

The skipper of the Punjabi Legends, Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and opted to bat first. It was Luke Ronchi who got the innings underway with a couple of exquisite shots but couldn’t quite convert his start into a big one, as he got dismissed on the 1st delivery of the 2nd over by Marchant de Lange.

There was a solid partnership between Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik for the 2nd wicket, as the duo notched up a 71 runs partnership in the 7th over. It was sublime hitting by the duo, as they smashed boundaries at will. Akmal struck a couple of sixes and four fours en route to his 38 off 25 balls while Malik got dismissed on 30 off 15 deliveries which were studded with four fours and a solitary six.

The Bengal Tigers made a stunning comeback in the last four overs and kept them under 100. The Legends managed to score just 19 runs in their final 20 deliveries which didn’t allow them to cross the 100-run mark. From 80/1, they were reduced to 97/6, and hence the big shots didn’t come out on a consistent basis especially in the death overs.

Marchant de Lange was the wrecker-in-chief for the Bengal Tigers finishing with 2/21 in his two overs. Chasing the total, the Bengal Tigers kept losing wickets but was on par with the required run rate. Boundaries came on a consistent basis which didn’t allow Punjab to build the pressure on Bengal. Aamer Yamin coming late in the batting order was their top scorer, as he remained unbeaten on 18 off just five deliveries which contained three hits over the fence.

Almost all the batters made contributions, and despite no big score, they were able to chase down the target with four balls remaining. Hasan Ali was the stand out performer for Punjab and finished with exceptional figures of 4/7 in two overs.
