Mithali has been the pioneer of women cricket in India. She is currently the highest run-scorer in One-Day Internations and the only women cricket to surpass the landmark of 6000 runs in the format. Mithali Raj recently became the first woman to complete 20 years in international cricket. She has also captained India in two World Cup finals in 2005 and 2017 but failed to go all the way.

Recently, the veteran cricketer stepped down from the T20I cricket to give young players adequate opportunity to prepare for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia next year. As Mithali reaches the twilight of her career, the Bollywood is set to present her a biopic. Actress Taapsee Pannu took to social media site to reveal the news on her birthday.
