Rohit Sharma is the only player in the history of ODI cricket to score three double hundreds. There was a time when targets above 250 were considered to be safe. But a shift in the paradigm in favour of the batsmen have made 350+ scores not safe.

The Indian opener took the cricketing world in surprise when he scored 264 runs against Sri Lanka including 33 fours and nine towering sixes. He overtook his countrymen Virender Sehwag’s 219 to be the highest score in ODI cricket.

Ten unbreakable records

Taking a ten-wicket haul in Test cricket is a very big achievement, and when someone picks 19 wickets out of 20, it has to be the rarest of the rare accomplishments. Jim Laker impressed the whole world when he took 19 wickets against Australia at Old Trafford during an Ashes series in 1956.

There is an excellent saying that records are meant to be broken, but this one record will be intact for a very very long time.

Muttiah Muralitharan is the best off-spinner to play the game of cricket. He has served Sri Lanka cricket for many years at his personal best.

Muralitharan finished his career with 1347 wickets across formats which are by far the best by any bowler. He also bid goodbye as the highest ODI and Test wicket-taker with 534 and 800 wickets respectively. With the game making a shift in favour of the batsmen, it is unlikely that any bowler will ever break this record.

Yuvraj Singh’s scored a 12-ball 50 during the 2007 T20 World Cup against England is the best across the format. He ran sixes in that game to single-handedly take India to overhaul the England target.
