India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane had been one of the underperformers in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton. Though Ajinkya Rahane top-scored with 49 in the first innings, he failed in the second. The right-handed batsman, who plays only Tests now, took to his official Instagram handle and posted a cryptic message.

Ajinkya Rahane posted a picture on his official Instagram account with a Test jersey, remarking that there is nothing prouder than wearing this shirt and representing India. The 33-year old concluded by saying that he has enjoyed every moment of it thus far. As one of the most experienced members of the team, Rahane has been extremely integral to India’s success over these years.

While Ajinkya Rahane, similar to the rest of the Indian team members is on a vacation now, he has a gruelling few weeks ahead. India and England will lock horns in the five-match Test series, starting from the 4th of August at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The 74-Test veteran is on his third England Test tour and would be expected to play an instrumental role to play a part in India’s first Test series win on English soil since 2007.

The tourists are also likely to play a practice game ahead of the Test series, keeping them in good stead to face England. While Ajinkya Rahane has been inconsistent with the bat, he has had a memorable last few months. As the vice-captain, he led India to a famous Test series victory over Australia down under earlier this year. However, he soon needs to showcase his importance with the bat by producing some big innings. Rahane currently has 4647 runs in 74 Tests at 41.12, with 12 centuries.
