Former Australia player Mitchell Johnson has been forced out of his stint with ABC radio over his association with a betting agency.

The 40-year-old was asked to quit his commitments with the national broadcaster for violating the terms of the contract.

According to a report by The Australian, Johnson has been locked out because of ABC’s policy banning its employees from working with the network while they have an association with a betting agency.

There seems to be a lot of hypocrisy that goes with this rule: Mitchell Johnson

Johnson was blown away by the decision of his withdrawal by the ABC network. The former Australian pacer accused the network of hypocrisy over their morale code.

I have really enjoyed working with the ABC team over recent seasons and was looking forward to doing it again,” Johnson told News Corp.

“There seems to be a lot of hypocrisy that goes with this rule. I don’t understand and you start to wonder about what you can and can’t say if you are calling for them.

“It’s blown me away a little bit: do we have to make sure we have to align with the ABC’s moral compass? There’s nothing I can do about it … that’s the rule and I guess I’m not going to work with them,” he added.

Johnson played 256 matches for the Australian national team across all formats from 2005 to 2015 and claimed 590 wickets overall in his international career.

Johnson has also played for several T20 franchises across the globe with his notable stints with Mumbai Indians in IPL and Perth Scorchers in Big Bash League are well known.
