There is always a saying that a few people in India don’t follow their rules and regulations. No one knows whether it is right in other cases or not but as far as the cricket spectators are concerned, ”Yes” would be the answer. The fans, somehow, trick security cops to enter into the grounds during the course of the game. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar lashes out at the security officers.

Compared to the overseas venues, the venues in India aren’t that strict, as they regularly see one of the fans invading the match to meet their favourite cricketers. It has happened earlier, happened in Visakhapatnam Test and now, in Pune venue as well.

Security are there to stop fans – Sunil Gavaskar

During the course, Sunil Gavaskar, who is in the commentary panel, lashed out at the security officials, who are failing to counter it. He calls it very dangerous for the players, as you never know what could happen. Sunil Gavaskar added that there are many dangerous incidents took place in the past, hence, he wants security to be alert.

Sunil also explained that such things take place when the police officers involve in the game of cricket rather than doing their duty. Further, he reminds cops of their duty, as the security lapse may result in many unexpected events.

“These incidents happen because security people are not watching the crowd but are watching the match. This has been the perennial problem in India. The security is not there to watch the match for free. They are there to stop such interruptions from happening,” he said on live.

“I say put the camera on the security and check whether they are watching the match or the crowd. This is a dangerous security issue which is what you are there for, to make sure no one goes into the crowd. Anyone can cause damage to a player. It has happened in the past, why take a chance. Remember, it is not easy to get into the ground. There are a lot of barricades, and still these incidents are happening,” he added.

Well, as Sunil Gavaskar said, the security officers must be strict enough in watching out the fans. With the terrorist activities becoming more often in the country, the cops must be on their toes throughout the day.
