During his long and illustrious career that spanned almost two and a half decades, legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar played with some of the finest pacers in the history of Indian cricket in particular.

Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan were some of the bowlers Tendulkar shared the dressing room with. But it seems none of the bowling lineups managed to cast an impact on him like the current Indian pace attack did.

Moreover, in a recent interview, Tendulkar maintained India has ‘the most complete fast-bowling attack in many many years’. Tendulkar went on to say that the current bowling attack would go down as one of the best bowling departments.

“This is the most complete fast-bowling attack that India have had in many many years. In my assessment, this attack would go as one of the best,” Tendulkar told PTI.

“We have the luxury where we have a swing bowler (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), a tall bowler (Ishant Sharma), a skiddy bowler (Jasprit Bumrah) and a genuine quick bowler (Umesh Yadav). It is a nice combination to have with so much variation on offer,” Tendulkar added.

The former batsman, who played in a record 200-Test fixtures, went on to say that he rates this attack as more potent than some of those during his playing days.

“Yeah, I am taking that into account that (attacks of yesteryears) as well because of a reason. We have got Bhuvi, who can bat and also Hardik with good batting ability,” he said.

India’s pacers will have their task cut in the coming days as India will be taking on England at their own backyard.

The last two tours of England have been nothing less than a nightmare for the Indian contingent. In 2011, they lost 4-0 despite being the world number one Test team before going down 3-1 in 2014.

On those two tours, India only managed to win the One-day International series in 2014.

However, many believed this time around it is the best chance for India to end their recent woeful run in England and the bowlers will have to play a big role if Virat Kohli and his men are to win in the swinging and seaming conditions of England.

Sachin Tendulkar, meanwhile, asserted players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who contribute with the bat, can tilt the balance of power in India’s favour.

“The current India team is constantly looking at seamers, who can contribute with the bat big time. I think these two guys (Bhuvneshwar and Hardik) have contributed crucial runs every now and then,” Tendulkar remarked.

“Hardik has just got into the side. But I think Bhuvi contributing brilliantly and that contribution changes the balance of the team in a positive manner,” Tendulkar explained.

“It’s good to have batsmen who can bowl four-five overs. But even better if we have bowlers, who can score those crucial runs. The kind of contributions that can help you move forward,” he stated.

Prior to the series in England, India will play two T20Is in Ireland, starting June 27. After that, they will play three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests in England.
