Three Cricketers Who Got Cheated On By Their Wives

On the surface, cricketers live a very luxurious life. They get to travel the world, get blockbuster deals from various sponsors, a big-fat paycheque from their respective cricket boards. These players keep piling up records and capture the imagination of fans due to which several fans worship them. Amid all that, being humans themselves consisting of flesh and blood, they also have a personal life.

And sadly, few have it as happening as their professional lives. The athletes being constantly on the road, wish for a peaceful relationship with their better-halves. Furthermore, the cases in which these people face betrayal from their partners is more gut-wrenching. Over the years, a handful of cricketers have hogged the headlines due to their controversial married life.

We take a look at three cricketers who were cheated on by their partners:

Dinesh Karthik:

India’s Test opening batsman Murali Vijay married Nikita Vanjara at the end of 2012 and the couple have a three-year-old son at present. However, it was Murali Vijay, who broke the marriage between his current wife and fellow countryman and teammate Dinesh Karthik. During a Vijay Hazare Trophy match in 2012, Karthik came to know about Murali’s affair with his partner.

Immediately, Karthik handed a divorce to his better-half while she was pregnant with a boy. Soon after, Nikita married Murali Vijay. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik tied the knot to a national level squash player, Dipika Pallikal in August 2015 after announcing their engagement in November 2013.

Tillakaratne Dilshan:

Once, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga were one of the best opening pairs in ODI cricket. The duo shared several memorable partnerships for Sri Lanka at the top of the order. However, a part of the chapter that often went untold were their personal lives. Tharanga tied the knot to Nilanka Vithanage, who is Dilshan’s ex-wife.

It is believed that Tharanga’s increasing bond with Dilshan’s better-half was the root cause of the rift between the couple. Nilanka also has a son with Dilshan named Resadu Tillakaratne. Later, the retired Sri Lankan cricketer got hitched to Teledrama actress Manjula Thilini. The couple have two daughters and two sons from their marriage.

Brett Lee:

Brett Lee is one of the most decorated cricketers of his era. As much as his lightning-fast quick bowling struck terror among the best batsmen, women drooled and still do for his charming looks. Nevertheless, his personal life was not as smooth and comprised of bumps.The New South Wales-born cricketer married Elizabeth Kemp in 2006, also having a son.

After two years of marriage, the couple announced their separation and officially parted ways in 2009. It was widely rumoured that Kemp was having an affair with a Rugby player in Brisbane. But the reason stated was his off-season committments due to which he wasn’t able to spend time with the family. Lee married Lana Anderson in 2014 and they have two children.
