India’s World Cup dream is now over and it was a sad end to India’s tournament campaign. The Indian lost the semifinal against New Zealand by 18 runs. However, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni put up a resilient effort with the bat. But they could prevent the defeat. Jadeja scored 77 from 59 balls and he let his bat do all the talking.

Meanwhile, there are some players who might have played their swansong tournament. These players have done a good job but it could be the end of the road for them.

In fact, the BCCI selectors and the team management will like to make their team keeping the next World Cup in mind. They would like to invest in the youth and give the youngsters their exposure to develop.

Here are the three players who might not get a chance to play in ODIs:

Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav might not get a chance in the ODI cricket. Jadhav was not able to deliver the goods in the World Cup. The right-hander scored 80 runs in the five innings at an average of 40 and strike rate of 80.81. Furthermore, Jadhav is 34 years old and he would be 38 in the next World Cup. Thus, the team would like to get the young blood in place of him. Moreover, Jadhav could not deliver the goods with the ball. In fact, he didn’t get a lot of chance to bowl in the World Cup.

Dinesh Karthik got his opportunities in the fag end of the World Cup. However, Karthik could not grab his opportunities with both hands. In fact, Karthik made his World Cup debut against West Indies. The right-hander had a golden opportunity to get going in the semifinal but could not get going. Karthik scored only six runs in the semifinal. However, he was giving the finishing touches to the Indian team in the previous matches. Furthermore, Karthik is also 34 years of age and it would be better for the Indian board to move away from him.

MS Dhoni

The former Indian captain might have played his swansong innings for the Indian team in the semifinals of the World Cup. Dhoni scored a fine fifty in the big match against New Zealand but he could not take his team over the line as he was run-out. The talisman has had a glorious career and it is expected that MS Dhoni can reveal the announcement of his retirement. Dhoni is now 38 years old and it would be better for Indian cricket to invest in young keepers like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.
