In India, cricketers and the film stars enjoy a huge fan following for their work in the respective fields. A few times, the madness of the fans towards their heroes goes a bit high, which makes them perform unusual actions. Much to the same, three fans tricked the security to meet their heroes during the second T20I match at Mohali.
They have been remanded in 14-day judicial custody.:
Initially, it was Virat Kohli fan, Sandeep Kumar of Yamunanagar, jumped from the ‘A’ Block grill and ran on to the pitch to shake hands with the Indian skipper. On his way, he appeared to even obstruct a cop who came for him.
Soon after, another fan, Rajesh Kumar of Churu in Rajasthan scaled the ‘B’ Block fence and entered the pitch. The third accused, Pawan Kumar of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was sitting in the members block when he also dodged and police official and came in.
All three pitch invaders were booked at the Phase-VIII police station for criminal trespass, obstructing public servants, and using criminal force to deter cops. Station house officer (SHO) sub-inspector Jagdeep Singh Brar said: “They have been remanded in 14-day judicial custody.”
They are now facing a case under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 447 (criminal trespass) of the Indian Penal Code.
If proven, Section 353 carries a sentence of up to two years, while the other two charges entail jail time of up to three months each. A local court on Thursday sent them to judicial custody for 14 days.
Coming to the report of the 2nd game, Virat Kohli scored a brilliant half-century as India won the match by seven wickets.
