Three Players Who Might Lead India If Virat Kohli Is Rested For South Africa ODIs; Following a debacle in the ODI series against New Zealand, the upcoming series against South Africa will hold a lot of importance for the Indian cricket fans. But the team management might once again look that as an opportunity to test the bench strength and rest the senior players.

By the time India plays South Africa, a lot of seniors in the side will be tired touring New Zealand.

As already India suffered a major blow with the injury of Rohit Sharma, BCCI might not risk the other seniors to get injured with the hectic schedule ahead. Thus, there is a good chance for a lot of youngsters to get the chance to show their calibre against South Africa.

Most probably, Virat Kohli might get the rest, as he is playing non-stop cricket while Rohit will continue his rehab period.

So, we came up with three captaincy choices for the ODI series against South Africa.

Three Players Who Might Lead India If Virat Kohli Is Rested For South Africa ODI Series:

3. Shreyas Iyer:

Yeah, in absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer can lead the team, as he already got experience in leading Mumbai in domestic tournaments. He is one of the best captains available in the domestic circuit and also leads Delhi Capitals (DC) in the pressure-filled Indian Premier League (IPL).

Considering his captaincy skills in the domestic circuit, Iyer might well get the nod to lead India against South Africa.

Besides that, the Mumbaikar is in exceptional form with the bat to make things fall in place.

2. Manish Pandey:

Yet another star captain in the domestic circuit, who can take the job for the upcoming series is Manish Pandey. Though he is fighting hard for his place in the playing XI, selectors might give him the nod, with all the seniors taking rest after the tour.

With Virat Kohli staying away, Manish Pandey might also get the chance to play higher in the batting order to show his calibre.

As far as the captaincy is concerned, Pandey was a regular skipper of India-A whenever he stays away from the Indian National Cricket Team.

With the amount of experience he garnered during his stint with India-A, Pandey can easily lead the team against Quinton de Kock-led side.

1. KL Rahul:

Well, KL Rahul is one of the perfect candidates to lead the side in the absence of Kohli and Rohit.

And, he is also not someone, who shy away from the responsibility, as he is pretty happy at the moment to serve in any manner for the Indian National Cricket Team.

We already had a look at his captaincy when Rohit sustained an injury in the final T20I game against New Zealand.

Currently, he is in the ominous form with his bat doing the talking for him. In addition, he has been exceptional behind the stumps.
